Love, chocolate, and betrayal all combine in this tale of an awkward girl from the secluded Mexican village of Xochilcacahuatel who inherits a secret Mayan chocolate recipe from her grandfather and sets her sights on Florida in hopes of finding true success. Rosita Amado is the shy granddaughter of Juan Amado, known to the candy-loving masses as "The Chocolate King." When Juan dies and leaves Rosita his secret recipe, the modest girl uproots her family in order to fulfill her grandfather's dream of finding success in America. In the process, Rosita falls in love with the dashing Chocolate Supremo heir Bruce Remington. Later, it's revealed that Bruce's scheming mother Grace is also Juan's stepdaughter, and that she's willing to do whatever it takes to destroy Rosita and procure the secret Mayan recipe.
